One of the objectives of the Agency it is to promote and foment social awareness towards the rational and sustainable use of water for the common good. Respect for the environment, good water use and taking care of the surroundings are fundamental traits that the Agency wants to convey to citizens.

The Agency considers citizen participation as a tool to manage public policies that will have an impact on citizens. The Aarhus convention, the Water Framework Directive and the Transparency Act are regulatory elements that facilitate this citizen participation beyond voluntary actions from the Public administration, making it a legal and regulated duty.

The citizens have the right to an opinion and to influence public affairs and decision making. Following on from this, the Agency offers citizens service channels and spaces in which to establish a dialogue regarding the public management of the water cycle in our country, offering permanent debate and dialogue spaces with water stakeholders, and other temporary and regular debate spaces and service channels open to all types of companies and individuals.
